The Kansas City Chiefs fell to the Green Bay Packers 27-19 on "Sunday Night Football" in Week 13, but NFL officiating will be the talk of the game after they flubbed multiple calls in the final minute.
One of those no-calls potentially cost the Chiefs a legitimate shot at tying the game to force overtime. With 19 seconds to go, Patrick Mahomes targeted Marquez Valdes-Scantling on a deep throw outside the left hash. Packers DB Carrington Valentine arrived early and jumped on Valdes-Scantling's back. The entire Chiefs sideline was seen throwing their arms up looking for a penalty flag on what appeared to be a blatant penalty, but the call never came.

NBC Sports rules analyst Terry McAulay weighed in on the play in a postgame chat with Broadcasters Cris Collinsworth and Mike Tirico.
"This is an obvious defensive pass interference," McAulay said. "You simply can't play through the receivers' back before the ball gets there. He does exactly that. He plays right through his back. Has to be a foul. Should have been called."
Now, the predominant train of thought is that this call was some sort of makeup call for the hit on Patrick Mahomes, which was incorrectly called unnecessary roughness earlier in the drive. That may be the case, but Brad Allen and the rest of his officiating crew ought to learn a lesson that any grade school kid knows: Two wrongs don't make a right.
In this case, it just makes for a massive embarrassment for the NFL on the national stage.
