Los Angeles Rams (1-4) receiver Cooper Kupp had a positive workout Monday and a return to game action is possible for this Sunday’s Week 7 home contest against the Las Vegas Raiders (2-4), per Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

Kupp, the former All-Pro, has been sidelined with a high-ankle sprain he sustained in the 41-10 Week 2 road defeat to the Arizona Cardinals (2-4). The Rams placed Kupp on injured reserve and barring any setbacks in practice this week, he could be in line to play versus Las Vegas.

“Today will be a big day for guys like Cooper Kupp,” head coach Sean McVay said Monday, via Sarah Barshop of ESPN. “We’ll see how he’s doing. He’s making good progress. I’ll have an injury update [Wednesday] in regards to how today goes for him.

“There is a possibility he could be ready this week. There’s also a possibility that he might not be ready.”

Rams hopeful to get Cooper Kupp back in Week 7

Kupp, 31, was his usual productive self before the injury, hauling in 18 receptions for 147 yards and a score. The Rams have struggled on offense without Kupp and fellow wideout Puka Nacua, averaging just 18.8 points per game this season. Nacua, on injured reserve with a PCL sprain, is not expected to make his return against the Raiders.

Without their two star receivers, the Rams have relied on the trio of Tutu Atwell, Jordan Whittington and Demarcus Robinson in the passing game. As for Kupp, he’s feeling optimistic about his chances to suit up and play.

“But even talking with him earlier today, he’s feeling good, he’s feeling optimistic,” McVay said. “But he’s also very aware of what that looks like to be ready to roll. And to maybe not quite be there yet. So today will be a big day.”
