Corners the red hot 6-1 Colts should target to improve the position ahead of the upcoming NFL trade deadline

The Indianapolis Colts' injury situation at CB has been beyond unfortunate. The team put a lot of resources into upgrading the position, and early into training camp, it was evident that they had succeeded. Their big money signing of Charvarius Ward looked like a steal to start 2025 as he looked like one of the best coverage CBs in the NFL, and their third round pick Justin Walley looked to be locking up the second outside starting job.

Sadly, Walley suffered a torn ACL in training camp, and Ward has been placed on IR after suffering his second concussion ahead of the team's Week 6 matchup. Now, a group that looked like a strength has become a weak spot heading into Week 8. If the Colts are going to make a trade ahead of the NFL trade deadline, CB is a position to watch closely. Below are three CBs I view as the most realistic options that the Colts could consider.

3 realistic CBs the Colts could target ahead of the trade deadline

Riq Woolen, Seattle Seahawks

Tariq Woolen is rare because NFL insiders reported that he was available for trade well before the trade deadline. The Seahawks have had to put a hold on any potential move as injuries have piled up at CB. So the question is, will they still look to move him ahead of the deadline?

If they do, he would be a great fit in Indy. I think he would flourish in a more man-heavy scheme. The Colts could give him a chance to start and prove he can still be the difference maker he showed to begin his NFL career. He might be the best case of a low-risk, high-upside option for the Colts to swing on.

Rasul Douglas, Miami Dolphins

Rasual Douglas has been a solid late free agency signing for the Dolphins. He's been very clearly their best CB this season, but that team is an absolute mess. If the Colts want to improve their second starting CB spot for a low price, I think Douglas would make sense. He doesn't offer the higher ceiling that the rest of the players in this article have, but you know exactly what you are getting with Douglas, and that could be very valuable to a team like the Colts.

Cam Taylor-Britt, Cincinnati Bengals

The Colts have already been linked to Taylor-Britt, who has fallen out of the rotation in Cincinnati. The obvious reason is his experience playing in Lou Anarumo’s defense. Taylor-Britt had the best two years of his young career in 2023 and 2024 under Anarumo. In his final years with Anarumo, he combined for seven interceptions and 27 pass deflections. The two reuniting in Indy could make sense for both sides.
