Could Bills Start Micah Hyde vs. Lions?

The Buffalo Bills will look to stay in the race for the top seed in the AFC with a huge matchup against the Detroit Lions on Sunday.

Although the 10-3 Bills have been one of the NFL's top teams this season, the 12-1 Lions are one of the few teams who have looked better. With the game in Detroit, Buffalo may have their toughest matchup of the season awaiting them on Sunday.

The Bills may also be without multiple crucial players in their starting unit. Starting safeties Taylor Rapp and Damar Hamlin both missed practice on Thursday after suffering injuries against the Los Angeles Rams last week.

If Buffalo is without two of their starting safeties, they will likely have to pull from their practice squad for some depth, and if they do, there is a clear top option.

All-Pro safety Micah Hyde signed with the Bills' practice squad in November after the team chose not to re-sign him in the offseason. He had spent the previous seven years of his career with Buffalo, where he was a two-time All-Pro.

With Hyde being brought on to the practice squad, it was clear that the team intended for him to play a backup role, which coach Sean McDermott reiterated.

"We're in a good spot. Very confident in the guys that have played there all season long and have done both a nice job," said McDermott. "It's just, let's just take it one day at a time."

However, now that they're down two starters, the Bills may be forced into a move..
