Could Falcons Sign Former All-Pro?

The Atlanta Falcons could look towards an old foe to become a friend and help their offensive line.

With the season just three weeks away and questions still looming in the trenches, the Falcons could look towards adding free agent guard Andrew Norwell in free agency.

With Matt Hennessy dealing with an injury and Matthew Bergeron adjusting to NFL life as a rookie, it may make sense to bring in a veteran.

"Matthew Bergeron could earn the starting job at left guard, but he's a rookie who's making the transition from tackle to the interior, which may come with a lot of growing pains. Instead of rushing him into the starting role out of necessity, Norwell could fill a short-term void," Bleacher Report writes.

Norwell, 31, started 16 games for the Washington Commanders last season and committed just four penalties.

Before his stint with the Commanders, Norwell spent time with the Carolina Panthers (2014-17) and Jacksonville Jaguars (2018-21). He became an All-Pro with the Panthers in 2017 and has since been an above-average guard in the NFL.

While the Falcons are excited about the prospects Bergeron can bring as a rookie, adding a veteran offensive lineman could put Atlanta in position to make the playoffs for the first time in six years.
