Could Jets sit Zach Wilson in favor of Mike White?

The New York Jets lost rookie quarterback Zach Wilson for at least a couple of weeks because of a sprained right PCL and found themselves in a position where they had to start unproven commodity Mike White against the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday. That worked out rather well for Gang Green, as White completed 37-of-45 passes for 405 yards with three touchdowns in guiding the Jets to an unexpected 34-31 win that moved them to 2-5 on the season.

The Jets have a quick turnaround before Thursday's prime-time game at the Indianapolis Colts, and head coach Robert Saleh did not automatically commit to putting Wilson back in the lineup when the first-year pro is healthy.

"If everything goes according to plan and Zach comes back and he's healthy, we'll address it when we cross that bridge," Saleh explained, per Rich Cimini of ESPN.

According to ESPN stats, Wilson has thrown nine interceptions this season, tied for the most in the league. He's 33rd among eligible quarterbacks with a 63.5 passer rating and 32nd with a 26.0 total QBR.

White will start against the Colts in an attempt to remain in the lineup for the matchup versus the Buffalo Bills on Nov. 14.

"I know exactly how we'll operate," Saleh added during his comments. "I know exactly what we're looking for. If it's something you want to play with and have fun with, I mean, it doesn't surprise me. But have fun."
