Could the Seahawks trade Russell Wilson in 'the near future'?

There seems to be growing frustration between Russell Wilson and the Seattle Seahawks but the team would not actually consider trading their franchise quarterback, right? Not according to some sources who have indicated that the two sides have spoken about a trade possibly happening in "the near future."

"Some people around the league think a trade could happen, if not this offseason then sometime in the near future," according to a report from The Athletic's Michael-Shawn Dugar, Mike Sando, and Jayson Jenks

The trio also reported that the Las Vegas Raiders, Miami Dolphins, New Orleans Saints and New York Jets could be among the teams where Wilson could land.

Of course at this point, it's all just rumors, but there is clearly something going on with Wilson and Seahawks. Trade rumors first began to surface earlier this month, when Wilson publicly voiced his displeasure with the number of hits he has taken during his career and was noncommittal when asked about the possibility of being traded, saying it was up to the team.

In the same interview, the 32-year-old quarterback also said he loved playing in Seattle, but that has not stopped the rumor mill from endlessly speculating about Wilson possibly leaving the Seahawks. If he did become available, he would surely be one of the most sought-after trade prospects in NFL history.
