Could Wan'Dale Robinson be Giants' leading receiver for 2022 NFL season?

The New York Giants have more questions than answers hovering over their passing attack heading into the Week 1 matchup at the Tennessee Titans, and not all of them are related to the fact that quarterback Daniel Jones is in the final year of his rookie contract and, thus, is on the figurative hot seat in the closing days of summer. 

Wide receiver and 2021 first-round draft pick Kadarius Toney recorded just 39 catches for 420 yards and no touchdowns across 10 games his debut pro season, has dealt with multiple injury setbacks, and was the subject of trade rumors soon after Giants general manager Joe Schoen and head coach Brian Daboll were hired by the organization this past winter. 

Meanwhile, big-name veteran Kenny Golladay largely looks like a free-agency bust also acquired by the Giants' previous administration, and Darius Slayton realistically could be traded at any point moving forward. 

This past spring, the Giants spent a second-round draft selection to land Kentucky Wildcats product Wan'Dale Robinson. For a piece published Wednesday, ESPN's Dan Graziano explained why Robinson could be the team's leading receiver when all is said and done in January. 

"Kenny Golladay doesn't appear capable of separating from defenders," Graziano pointed out. "Kadarius Toney continues to deal with nagging health issues here and there. Sterling Shepard just got back to practice as he works his way back from an Achilles injury. Darius Slayton has been made available in trade since last October.

"The Giants have a healthy Daniel Jones and a favorable schedule of opposing defenses. Somebody has to catch the ball. Robinson was the team's second-round pick in this year's draft, and the coaching staff feels it can use him all over the formation. This coaching staff and front office didn't sign Golladay and didn't draft Toney or Shepard. It's a big jump from the second round to a team's leading receiver in Year 1, but watch out. Robinson should be a factor."

One can only guess what Jones will be in a new offense and if he can stay healthy through an entire season. If, however, he shines in Daboll's system and potentially earns at least another year with the team, he may do so by targeting Robinson early and often.
