Counting Down Until the Regular Season
We only have a few more days until we see the Miami Dolphins begin their 2025 campaign at Lucas Oil Field against the Indianapolis Colts on September 7th.
Despite it being a road game. The Dolphins have won the past five of six season home openers, including last year’s victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Whether it was the correct decision to start Daniel Jones as the starting quarterback or a regrettable decision remains to be seen.
Yet I am confident that the Dolphins can travel to Indianapolis and win this game.
Granted, the Dolphins have the better team despite their shortcomings from the bench , and Coach Mike McDaniel knows this opening opponent is one the Dolphins should beat.
With division games against the New England Patriots and the Buffalo Bills in the following two weeks, this is a must-win for Miami, albeit only the first game.
A road win against the Colts would send a strong signal to the 2025 team and instill the confidence needed to begin the year.
Of course, an opening day win will do nothing to quell any sentiments from NFL pundits that the Dolphins are a mediocre team at best.
And that the Dolphins lack physicality.
And the Dolphins are not capable of beating playoff-caliber teams.
And Miami cannot win on the road when winter temperatures hit.
And Tua Tagovailoa remains an above-average quarterback, no more, no less.
As A long-time Miami Dolphins fan, I remain acutely aware of the deficiencies inherent in the 2025 roster.
Then again, traveling to Indianapolis, in a hostile environment, against a team that is equally undefeated and is looking for early success, is not an easy task.
Coming home to Miami with a victory in our hands will be a sweet beginning to the season.
