Out of all the Dallas Cowboys' free agency pickups, none got a more positive reaction than Dante Fowler Jr.
After a career season with Dan Quinn and the Washington Commanders, Fowler returns to The Star after his previous employer did not want him after leading the team in sacks (10.5), tackles for loss (14), and being third in quarterback hits (12).
Now he comes to a Dallas defense led by Matt Eberflus and has Micah Parsons riding shotgun. That's not a bad situation to come to. Plus, the Cowboys have other pass-rushing options too with Marshawn Kneeland, Sam Williams, Payne Turner, Solomon Thomas, and Donovan Ezeiruaku.
For CBS Sports, Dante could be ready to make his mark in Dallas again, but this time as a featured part of Eberflus' defense.
"Fowler could thrive in 2025 playing opposite All-Pro edge rusher Micah Parsons," CBS Sports writes. "He was in a more rotational role in his first tour of duty in Dallas, but Fowler could thrive once again in 2025 and perhaps post another double-digit sack season with Dallas."
The one thing that makes Fowler's move back to Dallas good for the franchise is that after he put forth a career season in Washington, he was viewed as surplus to requirements.
That is the chip on the shoulder that could fuel Dante's fire in 2025.
Opposite Micah, and a handful of good, young pass rushers in Eberflus' defense, Fowler will want to prove that the entire league was wrong for passing on him in free agency.
Dante is back with the Cowboys but not as a rotational piece; he's going to be a prime mover in 2025, and with the feeling of being scorned by the league, he could push his game to new heights.
And thrive.
