Cowboys Announce Bold Statement On Rookie After Performance vs. Rams

The receiver position for the Dallas Cowboys was an interesting watch against the Los Angeles Rams, with a handful of candidates to watch intently during the entirety of the game.

In the 31-21 loss for Dallas at SoFi, it wasn't Jonathan Mingo, Jalen Tolbert, Jalen Brooks or even Ryan Flournoy (although he got open a lot) who impressed.

It was an undrafted free agent who had been stacking good days in training camp and carried that over into the game ... Traeshon Holden.

While he didn't see the field until the fourth quarter, when he did, Holden lit up SoFi Stadium. Two catches for 42 yards, with a 35-yard reception from a delightful Joe Milton pass, setting Dallas up in good field position.

“Every day he shows up, every day, he really does,” head coach Brian Schottenheimer said. “Every day he makes a play and we saw that they were playing some cloud to that side, some cover two and [Joe Milton] made a beautiful throw into the hole shot.

"Traeshon's done that every day in practice, literally every day, there's been one or two big plays, and when you do that, you get noticed, and when you do that, you get more opportunities. Just proud of him, and he's a guy you'll see moving up the depth chart.”

Moving up the depth chart?

Right, that is quite the statement.

Has Holden just jumped ahead of Brooks, Flournoy, and maybe even Mingo? It sounds like a distinct possibility, and in truth, Holden would likely need a repeat performance against the Baltimore Ravens to consolidate his spot on the depth chart.

Still, with limited opportunities, Holden grabbed them with both hands, and has the head coach already speaking glowingly of him, which is quite the feat.
