Cowboys Announce Final Trevon Diggs Development Before Broncos Game

The Dallas Cowboys are set to face the Denver Broncos on the road in Week 8 of the 2025 NFL season.

The Cowboys have a 3-3-1 record so far and are looking to build after defeating the Washington Commanders in Week 7. They currently sit in second place in the NFC East.

They beat the Commanders without cornerback Trevon Diggs, who suffered a concussion at his home on Oct. 16, as reported by The Athletic's Jon Machota.

That meant the 27-year-old needed to clear a five-step concussion protocol to be cleared to play against the Broncos on Sunday.

Unfortunately, on Friday, it appears that he could not pass the protocol. On the team's final injury report of the week, the Cowboys announced Diggs has officially been ruled out after being a non-participant in all three practices.

In six games this season, he's been targeted 16 times, allowing 11 receptions, 191 yards, three touchdowns and a 148.7 passer rating. He’s also racked up 18 tackles and one tackle for loss.

Since being selected in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft, he's earned two Pro Bowl appearances and one First-team All-Pro selection.

To replace Diggs against the Commanders, fourth-year veteran Kaiir Elam earned the start alongside DaRon Bland. The former first-round pick of the Buffalo Bills is in his first season with the Cowboys.

He may once again be relied on to help stop a productive Broncos offense. Through seven games, Denver ranks 15th in passing yards per game (215.1), led by quarterback Bo Nix.

Kickoff between the Cowboys and Broncos is at Empower Field at Mile High at 4:25 p.m. ET, airing on CBS. Dallas is looking to collect its second straight win without Diggs.
