The Dallas Cowboys have had a rocky start to their 2025 season. Through their first 10 games, the Cowboys have gone 4-5-1 and are coming off a blowout 33-16 victory over the Las Vegas Raiders on “Monday Night Football.”
Dallas’ strong suit throughout the season so far has been its offense. Led by 10th-year quarterback Dak Prescott, who has completed 69.9% of his passes for 2,587 yards and 21 touchdowns with six interceptions, the Cowboys have the top passing attack in the NFL, averaging a league-best 258.7 yards per contest. Dallas has averaged 120 rushing yards per game, which is 12th in the NFL.
The defense has been the biggest issue for the Cowboys, who sit in second place in the NFC East. The Cowboys have surrendered 381.3 yards per game so far. This ranks third-worst in the league.
On Saturday, before a key matchup against the division-leading Philadelphia Eagles, the Cowboys made a pair of roster moves to address a perceived weakness on defense and bolster the offense's running game.
“The @dallascowboys waived CB Kaiir Elam and signed RB Malik Davis to the active roster from the practice squad,” the team’s public relations X account announced.

This was Elam’s first season with Dallas after playing the first three years of his career with the Buffalo Bills. He appeared in all 10 games with seven starts. In those games, the 24-year-old former first-round pick totaled 29 tackles with just one pass breakup and no interceptions.
Davis has been with Dallas since 2022, going between the practice squad and active roster. So far this year, he has played in four games, totaling seven carries for 26 yards.
The Cowboys take on the 8-2 Eagles at 4:25 p.m. ET on Sunday at AT&T Stadium on Fox.
