The Dallas Cowboys are getting ready to face the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 16.
So far this season, the Cowboys have had a top offense in the NFL and a well below average defense after the August trade of EDGE Micah Parsons to the Green Bay Packers.
The team is 6-7-1 and averaging the most total yards with 396.9 and the fourth-most points per game in the NFL with 29.1.
Meanwhile, the defense is surrendering the second-most points allowed in the NFL (30).
Cowboys head coach Brian Schottenheimer is in his first season in charge and is an offensive-minded coach. He has spent his entire career on the offensive side of the ball.
But the defensive struggles are glaring, and he knows a change is needed.
On Thursday, Schottenheimer spoke to the media about his decision to have defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus call plays from the booth for the remainder of the season after he was previously on the sideline.
“We think it’s going to be a good adjustment,” Schottenheimer said.
Cowboys DC Matt Eberflus said that he and Brian Schottenheimer came to a decision to put Eberflus up in the booth for the final three games.

“We think it’s going to be a good adjustment.”
Eberflus has been on the sideline this season.
Eberflus was hired as the Cowboys' defensive coordinator in the offseason after being fired from his head coaching position with the Chicago Bears.
He was in Chicago from 2022–24 and previously spent time with the Cowboys from 2011–17 as the team’s linebackers coach and pass game coordinator.
Sunday's game between the Cowboys and the Chargers (10-4) is set to kick off at 1 p.m. ET on Fox.
