FRISCO - Dan Quinn knows how to push emotional and inspirational buttons. Want proof? As the Washington Commanders use their "Dallas Week" theme while preparing for Sunday's visit from the Dallas Cowboys in this Week 12 NFC East showdown. ... he's putting a trio of Cowboys-turned-Commanders on stage.

Quinn, who before making this year's jump to be the head coach of the now 7-4 Commanders was a beloved Cowboys defensive coordinator, is naming his team captains for Sunday's showdown with 3-7 Dallas.

And as he employs a host of ex-Cowboys in his winning roster? Well, you know where this is going, right?

“The captains in this game, on offense, it'll be (Tyler) Biadasz, we thought just the tone setter the line of scrimmage,” Quinn said. “Defensively it will be Dante Fowler; man's brought a lot of energy to our group. And the last one is on special teams (and it) will be Noah (Igbinoghene).

"All three of these guys have really had different ways they've made their impact with their teammates and on the team.”

Very clever, DQ. Very devious, DQ.

In a game in which the Commanders are playing the Cowboys, it is just a coincidence that the center Biadasz is "setting the tone'' and that Fowler is in charge of "energy'' and that Iggy has done ... well, whatever it is he's done?

Those three guys, along with Dorance Armstrong and Noah Brown, now play for the Commanders after having played for the Cowboys ... making us a little stunned that Quinn didn't find a way of naming five ex-Dallas players as team captains.

Quinn has already stated this week that there's no extra importance on this game. But at the same time, he's not above milking his roster for fun and for motivation and for inspiration. It's part of what makes Quinn the coach and person that he is ... and there is a solid bet that his team captains respond well.
