The Dallas Cowboys in 2025 will have a renewed sense of hope under new head coach Brian Schottenheimer, following an offseason filled with positivity.
But at this time of year, it is all candy and rainbows. There aren't any dark days.
Dak Prescott looks good coming back from his hamstring injury, all of the rookies have hit the ground running, and the free agents like Miles Sanders, George Pickens, and Jack Sanborn have meshed well with the locker room.
So there is optimism for what the Cowboys could be in 2025, but what if everything goes sour? In a worst-case scenario, for Sam Monson, who was speaking on the Check The Mic podcast, it all unravels spectacularly.
“Worst is it all unspools,” Monson said. “The offensive line stinks, Dak Prescott has a bad season because the offensive line stinks, everyone is calling for his head, even though he's on a $60 million a year contract. You're stuck with him for a while, and everything's bad. Like Schottenheimer's getting pilloried for being in over his head, George Pickens completely unravels within five minutes, the whole thing just becomes a complete circus.”
My word, that is quite the picture.
And yes, if everything that Monson says goes wrong, things will get quite volatile for the NFC East franchise, and owner Jerry Jones’ position atop it all isn't going to be a very happy place to be.
For a franchise that thought it was on the way back, for it to go south so badly, it would be a tough pill to swallow. The Pickens trade for some is a risk and one worth taking, but if the offensive line fails to protect Dak, then No. 4 can't get the ball out, and it all becomes a house of cards.
Yes, it is a very bleak scenario and one that Cowboys Nation hopes doesn't come to fruition.
