Cowboys: CeeDee Lamb's postgame message says everything about loss to Dolphins
Sam Navarro-USA TODAY Sports

The Dallas Cowboys had some early intel on the Miami Dolphins' gameplan courtesy of Jalen Ramsey's comments before the game.

The Dolphins cornerback revealed he wasn't going to shadow wide receiver CeeDee Lamb, essentially confirming that the Cowboys would get the regular type of defense that Vic Fangio likes to call.

The Cowboys capitalized on it early on, keeping Lamb away from Ramsey and exploiting the mismatches across the secondary. In the first quarter alone, Lamb had four catches for 93 receiving yards in five targets, including a fantastic 49-yard touchdown. He also had a nine-yard carry out of the backfield.

Lamb also made a huge impact in plays without touching the rock. On a key fourth-down play, his alignment in the backfield manipulated the Dolphins defense. On Tony Pollard's should've-been-a-touchdown play in the opening drive, his alignment in the slot to the backside had a similar effect.

In other words, head coach Mike McCarthy was cooking as he used No. 88 as the ultimate chess piece. Things changed quickly after that, however.

In the second and third quarter, Lamb had... nothing. No targets, no catches, nothing. And it didn't have anything to do with Ramsey suddenly shadowing him, which he never did throughout the game.

CeeDee Lamb made some spicy comments postgame that prove just how odd the situation was, and they could very well be perceived as a lowkey shot at the handling of the offense.

"They wasn't doing anything," Lamb told reporters when asked if the Dolphins played him differently after his great start. "I don't know, I just feel like if I'm going to be involved, just keep me involved and let the game do what it got to do."

This isn't the first time Lamb makes such a comment. Back in Week 5, he called out the Cowboys for not getting him involved versus the San Francisco 49ers. It would be fair to say his message back then fueled the clear mindset shift we've seen since the bye week.

This time, it was more of a subtle shot, but it was a very revealing message from Lamb. While some could criticize him for making "Diva WR" comments the truth is he is a legit WR1. And he should be upset when the team goes away from him even when he's killing the opposing defense.

"It was weird that second and third quarter," Lamb added. "Very weird."

Had the Cowboys kept feeding Lamb, the outcome could've been very different. It was clearly working and for some odd reason, the offense didn't go back to him in the four drives they had in the middle two quarters of the game.
