Culture. That is what Dallas Cowboys head coach Brian Schottenheimer is trying to change in his first stint as a head coach, and right now, you can feel the shift.
However, you can see it play out differently in certain position groups, say the receiver room, and particularly CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens, who have been two peas in a pod since George arrived at The Star.
Set to be one of the most dynamic duos in football this season, it isn't only Pickens and Lamb that have embodied Schottenheimer's culture shift; it has been the entire room.
As for Pickens, the player he was portrayed as prior to his move to Dallas, is nothing like the player he's been in camp.
"He's been nothing but incredible in terms of the way he's worked with us, the way he's communicated with us," Schottenheimer said of Pickens. "The relationship that he and CeeDee have is special."
And as for the vibe in the receiver room? Coach Junior Adams has worked his magic.
"Junior Adams has done an amazing job of building the culture of his room," Schottenheimer added. "There's certain rooms where you got personalities and superstars, sometimes they don't always get along. It happens in quarterback room. It happens in defensive line rooms. But Junior's built an amazing culture in that room where guys really just want to win and have success and they don't really care who gets the credit."
With the offense set to be the straw that stirs this team's drink in 2025, Lamb and Pickens will have a large say, along with Dak Prescott, in how far this team can go under Schottenheimer.
While changing something as big as culture won't completely happen in one offseason, steps can be made in the right direction, and it is clear those steps have taken place.
Will that translate into wins? Who knows, but this receiver room is ready for success as a whole, not for individuals, and that might be something different that pushes this team forward in Schotty's first year.
