Cowboys' Dak Prescott 'antsy as ----' to return from injury

Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott didn't dance around the issue when he was asked Wednesday how "antsy" he is to return from the thumb injury that's kept him out since Week 1 of the season.

"Antsy as f---," Prescott responded, as shared by Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk. "But excited that my guys are doing what they got to do."

Backup Cooper Rush has guided the Cowboys to four consecutive victories coming off the season-opening loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and is on track to start at the undefeated division-rival Philadelphia Eagles this Sunday night. Meanwhile, Prescott added he would've played "on one leg" after he suffered a compound fracture and dislocation of his right ankle in October 2020 but also said Wednesday he wants "whatever is best for the team."

Head coach Mike McCarthy told reporters that Rush's solid play isn't causing the Cowboys to be overly "conservative" regarding Prescott's return to action. Meanwhile, Prescott admitted to being somewhat discouraged by ongoing circumstances.

"I understand the process," Prescott continued during his comments. "The week can be frustrating. Game day, Excited for my brothers. Do my part supporting."

After the showdown in Philadelphia, the Cowboys will host the 1-4 Detroit Lions on Oct. 23 and then welcome the 2-3 Chicago Bears to town on Oct. 30 before their bye. It's thought Dallas could consider sitting Prescott over the next three contests depending on the team's record following the home game versus Detroit.
