Cowboys' Dak Prescott: 'I don't think much about' injury vs. Giants

Last month, Dallas Cowboys starting quarterback Dak Prescott admitted to feeling emotional about playing in his first home game at AT&T Stadium since he suffered a compound fracture and dislocation of his right ankle while taking on the New York Giants on Oct. 11, 2020. 

This Sunday, Oct. 10, the Cowboys host the Giants for a Week 5 matchup that will include Prescott in the Dallas lineup as both the team's QB1 and an early legitimate NFL Most Valuable Player candidate. 

"I definitely fast-forward through that play. I’ve watched that play a couple of times, and when it comes up, I can say I watch the beginning of it but not the end of the run," Prescott explained Thursday about reliving the injury, per Todd Archer of ESPN. "I don’t think much about it. It’s kind of past it, and it’s really not something I care to see and know that I’ve done a lot to get past it." 

Prescott ultimately underwent two surgeries to repair the issue and later missed out on participating in preseason games because of a problem with his throwing shoulder that hasn't slowed him since Sept. 9. The 3-1 Cowboys are winners of three straight, and Prescott is currently tied for third in the league with 10 touchdown passes, according to ESPN stats. 

Among eligible quarterbacks, Prescott starts Week 5 fourth overall with a 116.9 passer rating, and he's second with a 75.2 completion percentage. 

Meanwhile, the Giants are 1-3 on the campaign.
