Cowboys' Dak Prescott listed as questionable, could potentially dress for game vs. Eagles

Dallas Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones suggested on Friday that quarterback Dak Prescott could return to action for the Week 7 home game against the Detroit Lions.

Prescott may dress a full seven days before that matchup.

ESPN's Todd Archer noted that the Cowboys left the door open for Prescott to serve as a backup to Cooper Rush at the unbeaten division-rival Philadelphia Eagles (5-0) on Sunday night by officially listing the 29-year-old as questionable. Prescott hasn't played since he suffered a thumb injury in Week 1 back on Sept. 11 and has watched as Rush has guided the Cowboys to an overall record of 4-1.

Head coach Mike McCarthy spoke with reporters Friday and hinted he could be convinced at some point on Saturday to name Prescott his QB2 for the Philadelphia game.

"We haven't thrown in a competitive drill, so that's one of the next hurdles," McCarthy said of Prescott's continued recovery. "Hopefully, we will potentially get over that at tomorrow's practice."

Puns aside, Dallas theoretically shouldn't be in any rush to risk Prescott's long-term health this weekend. Per ESPN stats, the previously mentioned Rush will enter Sunday 12th among eligible quarterbacks with a 93.9 passer rating and fifth with a 67.6 total QBR for the season. While FS1 personality and Pro Football Hall of Famer Shannon Sharpe believes Rush played "poorly" over the past four contests, the 28-year-old has a 61.0% completion percentage, four passing touchdowns and zero interceptions — which has been serviceable, at worst, since Prescott went down.
