Cowboys’ Dak Prescott Makes Bold Prediction Ahead Of 2023
Kyle Terada-USA TODAY Sports

The 2022 season was a struggle at times for Dallas Cowboys starting quarterback Dak Prescott. Things got off to a brutal start as he went 14-of-29 for 134 yards and one interception in the season opener against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday Night Football.

Punctuating the poor performance was a thumb injury that ended up costing Dak Prescott multiple weeks of the season. He wasn’t back in the lineup until Week 7 against the Detroit Lions as the team waited as long as possible to bring him back as his backup, Cooper Rush, was playing some solid football.

That game against the Lions ended up being only one of two appearances in the regular season that Dak Prescott didn’t turn the ball over. He turned into a turnover machine, throwing 15 interceptions in 12 games with four fumbles, one of which was lost.

Those turnovers made life difficult at times for the Cowboys as they would cripple any momentum that the team was making during the game. We saw the Jekyll and Hyde performance in the postseason when Dak Prescott torched the Buccaneers in a rematch before reverting to his turnover-laden game against the San Francisco 49ers.

Heading into the 2023 season, if the Cowboys are going to reach the heights they know they are capable of, they will need Dak Prescott playing turnover-free football. That is exactly what he is planning to do, as he made a bold prediction for the upcoming season, saying he won’t have 10 interceptions on the season.

That is certainly a bold prediction for Dak Prescott as he has thrown double-digit interceptions in four out of his seven seasons as the Cowboys’ starter. In one of the seasons he stayed in single digits because he played in only five games. But, through those five games, he had four interceptions, so he was well on pace to throw double-digits once again.

Right now, his over/under total for interceptions on the season is set at 13.5. Dak Prescott is confident that he will go well under that number, throwing nine or fewer on the season. If he accomplishes that feat, the Cowboys should find plenty of success offensively throughout the season.
