Cowboys Dak Prescott Success In 2025 Defined By 1 Schottenheimer Word

Success can come in different forms, but in the NFL, it is usually measured by one thing - wins, and that is something Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott has done better than most since entering the league in 2016.

In the regular season, Dak is fifth in the league for wins (76), despite playing just five games in 2020 and eight last season.

Yes, we hear you regarding Dak's playoff wins (2-5), but when it comes to the regular season, not many do it better. Granted, that might not count for much in the grand scheme of things, but for head coach Brian Schottenheimer, it might.

As minicamp gets underway, Schotty was asked what stat he will look at during the season that will tell him if Prescott has been successful in his system.

And his answer was unequivocal and straight to the point.

"Yeah, wins," Schottenheimer said.

It won't matter if Dak throws for 300 yards and three touchdowns each game; the only thing Schotty cares about is if his team wins.

One thing we know about Prescott is that if he plays a full season, Dallas is more often than not a playoff team. Dak has made the postseason five times in his career, and in four of those seasons, he has won 10 or more games.

Some might say success for Dak in 2025 is a deep playoff run or a Super Bowl win, and that is a reasonable thought.

It won't matter what his passer rating is, or his QBR, or how many fourth-quarter comebacks Dak has in 2025, he will be defined by one thing and one thing only by his head coach.

Whether he wins or not.
