Cowboys’ DeMarvion Overshown Gives Injury Update On Himself
Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

When the Dallas Cowboys took linebacker DeMarvion Overshown in the third round of the NFL Draft last spring, the expectation was that he would be a significant contributor to the team’s defense.

Instead, he ended up tearing his ACL in his second preseason game, thus ending his rookie campaign before it even began.

Last week, Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones said that Overshown will likely be ready for training camp, and on Tuesday, the University of Texas product provided an update on his status.

“We’re pushing right at six months out,” Overshown said Tuesday, via Nick Harris of the Cowboys’ official team website. “Everything is going good. We’re starting to move around. We’re ahead of the curve. It’s just a process. … This isn’t what my rookie year was supposed to be, but you get up and you do it every day.”

Overshown put forth an impressive final collegiate season at Texas in 2022, playing in 12 games and racking up 96 tackles, 10 tackles for loss, four sacks and five passes defended.

Dallas is certainly in need of help in its linebacking corps, so the hope is that a healthy Overshown can help shore up that area next season.

“All of the excitement that was built up in year one is still in there. It’s ready to be unleashed on people,” said Overshown. “The glimpse that y’all got last year, you should expect 10 times more than that. This ACL injury will not be an excuse for anything going into the season at all. I’m gonna be ready to play and [fans] should expect that.”

Cowboys fans are getting tired of the same old same old, as they have not seen their team move past the Divisional Round of the playoffs since January 1996.

Hopefully for everyone in Dallas, DeMarvion Overshown can aid the franchise in making a deep playoff run for the first time in nearly three decades.
