The Dallas Cowboys are much healthier ahead of their Week 7 showdown versus the Washington Commanders and their gameday inactives announcement confirms it.
Ninety minutes before gametime, the Cowboys announced WR CeeDee Lamb, WR KaVontae Turpin, and RG Tyler Booker are all active. Additionally, Dallas is getting back second-year cornerback Caelen Carson just in time to deal with Trevon Diggs' absence after he suffered a "home accident" and entered the concussion protocol late in the week.
Notably, Cowboys nose tackle Mazi Smith, a 2023 first-round pick, is active. He was seemingly demoted last week with seventh-round rookie Jay Toia reclaiming his place on the active roster. The two have gone back and forth in competition for a spot on the gameday squad.
Neither nose tackle has been impactful for the Cowboys but a second consecutive game for Smith would have been a bad omen for his future with the team considering Toia has struggled himself. For now, the Cowboys are betting on the former first rounder once again.
