Cowboys Get CeeDee Lamb News With Packers Game Looming

Dallas Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones expressed confidence Friday that wide receiver CeeDee Lamb will be available for the team’s Week 6 matchup against the Green Bay Packers.

Jones delivered the update during an appearance on 105.3 The Fan. He addressed both Lamb and left tackle Tyler Guyton, who also exited Thursday’s game.

“I think they’ll be fine, I think both of them are in good shape,” Jones said.

He added further clarity on their readiness for the upcoming contest.

“I think both CeeDee and Tyler will be all ready to go for Green Bay.”

Lamb left the Cowboys’ 24-16 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers with a quadriceps issue. The injury occurred after he absorbed another hit to the same area that had been bothered the previous week against Houston.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported that Lamb is dealing with a quad bruise that is not considered serious. The diagnosis points toward a short-term concern rather than a prolonged absence.

In the Thursday night contest, Lamb managed only two catches for nine yards on five targets. He was limited in the second half and did not play on the Cowboys’ final drive of the game.

That outing stood in sharp contrast to his performance four days earlier. Against the Houston Texans, Lamb hauled in 17 receptions for 189 yards and a touchdown, setting a franchise record for catches by a wide receiver in a single game.

Through five games, Lamb leads the NFL with 39 receptions and 507 receiving yards. He has also scored four touchdowns while averaging 13.0 yards per catch on 51 targets.

The Cowboys entered the Buccaneers game at 2-2 and dropped to 2-3 after the home defeat. Tampa Bay, which had been winless, improved to 1-4 with the victory.

Lamb has served as the primary target for quarterback Dak Prescott throughout the early portion of the season. His production has helped power an offense that has scored 138 points through five contests.

Guyton left Thursday’s game with a back injury. Stadium X-rays were negative, and Jones indicated he is progressing well enough to expect participation against Green Bay.

Dallas will face the Packers on Sunday night, Oct. 18, at Lambeau Field. The game is scheduled for 8:20 p.m. EDT and will be televised nationally on NBC.

The schedule provides Lamb with roughly 10 days between games. That extra recovery window is viewed as beneficial given the nature of the bruise.

Prescott and the rest of the receiving corps, including George Pickens, will continue to prepare for Green Bay with the expectation that Lamb returns to the lineup. The Cowboys are seeking to stabilize their season after the Thursday night setback.
