The Dallas Cowboys are facing a must-win scenario in Week 9 against the Atlanta Falcons, so it will be imperative for them to be as healthy as possible for this game. While they are already going to be without Micah Parsons and DaRon Bland on defense once again, everyone is keeping tabs on the latest injury updates for Trevon Diggs and Eric Kendricks.
Diggs didn’t practice at all throughout the week thanks to a calf injury he’s dealing with, while Kendricks has been battling a shoulder injury as of late. The good news is that both guys are set to play in Week 9, as the veteran linebacker in Kendricks is expected to suit up despite this ailment, and Diggs, after initially being labeled as a game-time decision, is set to play against the Falcons too.
Via Ian Rapoport:
“Cowboys LB Eric Kendricks (shoulder) is listed as questionable and is expected to play, source said. Meanwhile, CB Trevon Diggs (calf) didn’t practice this week but is considered a game-time decision.”
Via Todd Archer:
“Trevon Diggs will be active today after going through his pregame workout, according to a source.”
Injuries have played a big role in Dallas’ struggles so far this season, so being without either Diggs or Kendricks would have been a big loss. Instead, they both will end up suiting up, which is a huge win for the Cowboys. Kendricks has been the glue holding the team’s defense together when he’s been on the field this season, while Diggs’ presence will ensure that the secondary isn’t without their top two cornerbacks.
Considering how banged up the Cowboys already are, even with these two guys set to play now, their presence on the field cannot be overstated. Beating a strong Falcons team is still going to be a tall task even with both Diggs and Kendricks healthy, but having them makes things a bit easier, and fans will be hoping they are able to turn in strong outings now that they are set to take the field.
