Cowboys HC on rehabbing WR Michael Gallup: 'Blessed he's doing really well'

The Cowboys have battled injuries throughout the preseason, but their luck might be turning. Wide receiver Michael Gallup, who's rehabbing a torn left ACL, might be back soon.

According to NBC Sports, Gallup was not placed on the reserve/physically unable to perform list. This means he will not have to miss the first four games of the regular season.

“(Team trainer Britt Brown) feels really good about Gallup’s progress,” Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy said in a Tuesday news conference. “There have been no setbacks … we’ve been blessed he’s doing really well.”

Gallup’s return benefits quarterback Dak Prescott. Gallup's speed forces defenses to focus on him, creating opportunities for wide receivers CeeDee Lamb and Noah Brown.

On Tuesday, Brown and Lamb practiced following absences because of injuries. After Lamb suffered a foot laceration off the field, he missed both joint practices against the Los Angeles Chargers. Brown missed one because of a minor toe injury

Lamb seemed fully healthy and ready to go, drawing cheers from the crowd at practice, per Clarence Hill of the Fort Worth-Star Telegram. Prescott seemed to be more comfortable finding a groove with him.

McCarthy will not play starters in the final preseason game Friday against Seattle.
