Cowboys Hint At CeeDee Lamb Help Search 'Around Every Corner'

One of the Dallas Cowboys' biggest needs this offseason was to add another receiver to help ease the offensive load on All-Pro CeeDee Lamb.

Free agency has come and gone, leaving Lamb and Jalen Tolbert as No. 1 and No. 2 on the depth chart, respectively.

The draft is where many feel the Cowboys will look to add an "explosive No. 2" for the offense, and a host of names have been linked to the Cowboys.

But is there a want to add more firepower to the offense? For head coach/offensive play-caller Brian Schottenheimer, there is, but he also stressed the importance of having players already on the roster take that next step.

"CeeDee's incredible player, always looking to add depth at that room,” Schottenheimer said. “Really proud of Jaylen Tolbert, we started talking about it two years ago when he was improving, to now we talk about him as the leading receiver touchdown-wise on our team.

"It's our job as a staff to be a developmental staff, we need to get these guys like Ryan Flournoy, [Jonathan] Mingo to take the next step, we have to do that. Between developing those guys on the roster and always looking (around) every corner to add some speed and some more playmaking skills, we're always looking to do that.”

If we are hearing Schotty's words right, there is just as much emphasis on getting another high-caliber weapon as making sure the likes of Tolbert and Mingo aren't "just guys" in 2025.

Tolbert finished second among Cowboys players in yards (610) and first in touchdowns, but Mingo, having been traded for midseason, had just five catches for 46 yards, while Ryan Flournoy (10 receptions, 102 yards) also played a bit-part role.

Next season, Tolbert, Mingo, and Flournoy must take steps forward because even with more offensive help, Lamb and his fellow No. 2 can't do it all themselves. Others must become viable options.

Which is why Schotty is putting such an emphasis on development this offseason, while also looking for more talented options.
