Cowboys hope to topple Giants in Weeks 4, 13 matchups
Kevin Jairaj-USA TODAY Sports

The and will meet for the 125th and 126th time this season.

In the last seven season – 14 games – the Giants have only recorded one victory in the series. That was a four-point win on Jan. 3, 2021, in New York.

The year played in the first five games – fracturing his ankle in the first meeting against the Giants – with Andy Dalton at .

A year Dallas finished 6-10. Making the season-ending loss just a cap on a lost season.

The Cowboys have won the last six meetings between the two teams, sweeping the series each of the last three years.

And the smallest margin of victory in those six games has been seven points. Dallas has outscored the Giants 205-80 – with one shutout – in those six games.

The teams meet at New York in Week 4 this year — with the rematch in Arlington set for Week 13.

Dallas goes into this season with an all-time record of 75-47-2 against the Giants.

Against The Giants

The Cowboys are 34-26-1 against the Giants in games played in New York. Dallas has outscored the Giants 1,375-1,220 in those 61 games.

If you're doing the math and noticing that three games seem to be missing, they aren't.

Yes, Dallas has played 64 seasons in the NFL. And yes, usually the two teams play twice a year in a home-away format.

But the Cowboys did not play the Giants in New York in 1967 or 1969 and both games against the Giants in 1982 were wiped out by the strike.

At home, Dallas is 41-21-1 against New York, a record that accounts for no home game against the Giants in 1960 or 1982, but considers the 2007 Divisional round playoff loss to the Giants.

The Cowboys hold a 1,529-1,152 scoring edge in matchups played in Texas.

Dallas has won the last three games played at New York and the last seven played in Dallas. The two ties happened in the 1960s.

In the first-ever meeting between the teams at New York, the Cowboys fought to a 31-31 tie to avoid losing all of their games in their inaugural season.

The second tie occurred at the Cotton Bowl in 1964, when the two teams battled to a 13-13 tie.

The Cowboys have played in six games that ended in a tie overall – the Giants accounting for 33% of them – and none since the NFL-AFL merger in 1970.

Week 4 History

The Cowboys are 33-24 all-time in Week 4 games.

They lost one game to the 1982 strike. They have had six bye weeks fall on the Week 4 – 1992-94, 1997, 2004, and 2010.

Their Week 4 meeting will be the sixth time they have played the Giants in the fourth week and the first time in 34 years they have played a Week 4 game against each other.

Dallas is 3-2 in the previous five contests against New York – 2-1 at home and 1-1 on the road. The Giants have won the last two Week 4 games – 1989 and 1990.

The Cardinals are the team Dallas has seen the most on the Week 4 schedule.

Dallas has won all seven games against the Cardinals played four weeks into a season.

The Cowboys are 17-9 at home in Week 4 games and 16-15 on the road.

Dallas has won its last three Week 4 games – all at home – but lost its last Week 13 road game against the Saints in 2019.

Week 13 History

When the two teams meet again nine weeks later, it will be at AT&T Stadium and on Thanksgiving Day.

Dallas is 40-23 in Week 13 games – there were only 12 games scheduled in Dallas' first season in 1960.

The Cowboys are 28-12 at home and 12-11 on the road in Week 13. They are 33-22-1 on Thanksgiving Day – the lone tie coming against San Francisco in 1969.

Dallas is 4-3 against New York in Week 13 contests. They are 2-0 at home, but just 2-3 on the road.

The last time the teams collided in Week 13, the Giants won at home in 2009.

Dallas is also 2-0 against New York on Thanksgiving Day, beating the Giants 30-3 in 1992 – a Week 13 game –and 28-20 in 2022 – which fell on Week 12 that year.

The Cowboys have won their last three Week 13 games. Their most common Week 13 opponent has been Washington, a team they hold a 9-1 record against in Week 13 games.

My Prediction

(based on rosters as of today)

The Giants are a team still rebuilding, and still wondering if Daniel Jones is the answer at quarterback. I look for Dallas to sweep the season series for the fourth straight year.

Predicted season record after Week 4: 2-2.

Predicted season record after Week 13: 5-7
