Cowboys' Joe Milton Being 'Where My Feet Are' In Oxnard

The Dallas Cowboys are in the swing of things at training camp in Oxnard, and through three days, quarterback Joe Milton has been making people take notice.

How much so?

To the point where if Dak Prescott were to go down injured (fingers, toes, everything crossed), that the belief from some is that Dallas would still have a good chance to win games of football.

Milton's cannon of an arm and elite athletic ability running the football have been on show multiple times over the course of the three practices. Yes, there's been some downs too, but let's not forget, this is Joe's second-ever training camp.

Such has been what Milton has been able to do, the consensus is that he is the backup quarterback, with Will Grier seen as the third option. Granted, pads haven't come on yet, but right now, Milton is QB2.

Expected to see the majority of game time in Dallas' preseason games, Milton isn't letting himself get caught looking too far into the future when it comes to how much he'll play.

"Still too far ahead, I'll be where my feet are at, I like being present in the moment," Milton said via dallascowboys.com. "Just because if you get too far ahead, things start slipping from underneath you, you start forgetting small details in your day-to-day life."

Milton has, so far, had a good start to camp, with a long bomb to Jalen Brooks (caught just out of bounds), a nice tight window throw to KaVontae Turpin, a couple of long runs on read option plays, plus a nice seam route to Tyler Neville - good days are being stacked.

Of course, that has to continue over the coming weeks, but the fact that Milton has already shown more in practice than Trey Lance did tells you a lot.

We can't wait to see how Milton performs in the preseason games based off what we've seen in practice, but for now, we'll have to be content with watching him do his thing in Oxnard.
