Cowboys Legend Michael Irvin Sounds Off On Jerry Jones After Micah Parsons Trade

The biggest story in the NFL this year went down this week. Jerry Jones and the Dallas Cowboys agreed to trade Micah Parsons to the Green Bay Packers.

Dallas received Pro Bowl defensive tackle Kenny Clark and two first-round picks in exchange for Parsons. That might not seem like a bad haul, but it'll be tough to replace an All-Pro pass rusher who has racked up 256 tackles, 112 QB hits, 52.5 sacks over the past four seasons. It's also worth noting that Green Bay's first-round picks will most likely be in the mid-to-late 20s.

Before the Cowboys completed this trade, franchise legend Michael Irvin guaranteed that Parsons wouldn't be dealt this season.

"I guarantee, Michael Parsons's not going anywhere," the three-time Super Bowl champion said. "Jerry’s not that crazy. This is all what we call just negotiation stuff."

Once the trade went down though, Irvin shared his initial thoughts in a lengthy YouTube video. Let's just say "the Playmaker" didn't hold back.

Irvin stunned by the Parsons trade.

Despite his love for Jones and the Cowboys, Irvin refused to hide his true feelings about this deal. He thinks "America's Team" made a dumb decision getting rid of its best pass rusher.

"I know he loved Micah Parsons," Irvin said. "So in order for us to be right here, something had to go down that hurt Jerry personally to make this crazy…dumb move. The Gambler and his Cowboys…this is a gamble the Gambler should not have taken."

Irvin finished his rant by calling Aug. 28 a "dark and sad day" for Cowboys fans.

Jerry defends his decision.

Unsurprisingly, Jones believes he made the right move for the Cowboys. He even went on a bizarre rant about the Dallas defense needing to stop the run.

"The facts are specifically, we need to stop the run," Jones said. "And we haven’t been able to stop the run in key times for several years. And when you have the kind of extraordinary pass rush that [Micah] had, then the way to mitigate that pass rush is to run at you. If the pass rush doesn’t get you ahead pretty big time, and you’re playing even or behind, then you’ve really got a problem in stopping the run."

Well, the Cowboys will now struggle to stop the run and rush the passer. After all, they got rid of a true game-wrecker in Parsons.
