Dallas Cowboys edge rusher Micah Parsons suffered a high ankle sprain against the New York Giants on Thursday night and will likely miss games, according to NFL insider Ed Werdner. He also notes that a MRI on defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence revealed a foot injury and will result in further evaluation by a local foot and ankle specialist. He will also probably be out for a while.
The Cowboys likely being without two of their top edge rushers would be a massive break for the Pittsburgh Steelers, who host Dallas on Sunday Night Football in Week 5.
Parsons was rushing Giants quarterback Daniel Jones during a play late in the fourth quarter of the Cowboys’20-15 win over the Giants. Parsons was engaged with one Giants offensive lineman when another New York player fell on the back of his left leg, pinning his lower leg, ankle and foot underneath as Parsons fell to the turf at MetLife Stadium.

Parsons got to his feet and limped off the field to the blue medical tent on the Dallas sideline. He was later taken off the field on a cart and did not return. Head coach Mike McCarthy did not give an update on Parsons’ status after the game. He was reportedly icing his ankle in the locker room after the game.
Parsons had two tackles, with one for a loss, before leaving the game due to injury. In four games this season, he has 10 tackles, one TFL, one sack and 17 quarterback hits.
Last season, Parsons finished with 14 sacks, 18 tackles for loss and 64 tackles. He was third in NFL Defensive Player of the Year voting and earned his third Pro Bowl nod and third All-Pro selection. A Harrisburg, Pa. native, Parsons spent three seasons at Penn State before the Cowboys selected him at No. 12 overall in the 2021 NFL Draft.
