Dak Prescott and the Dallas Cowboys snapped a three-game skid in Week 17, jumping to 7-8-1 on the 2025 NFL season after a 30-23 win over Josh Johnson and the Washington Commanders on Christmas Day. Now, the Cowboys will prepare for their final game of the season, hitting the road to face the New York Giants in Week 18.

Led by Prescott and his wide receiver duo of CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens, Dallas led the NFL in yards per game at 398.6. However, despite its offensive success, the Cowboys finished dead last in passing yards allowed per game, even with two All-Pro cornerbacks in Trevon Diggs and Daron Bland, resulting in a second straight season without a playoff appearance.

Diggs had missed eight games during the latter half of the 2025 season but returned in Week 16 against the Los Angeles Chargers. However, on Tuesday, ahead of the season finale, Dallas elected to release Diggs despite his success with the franchise, allowing him the opportunity to sign with a playoff team.

Just a few hours after the Cowboys let Diggs walk, citing “both performance and other elements,” they lost another player, as the Arizona Cardinals signed tight end Rivaldo Fairweather off Dallas’ practice squad.

Fairweather had a solid college career with the FIU Panthers and the Auburn Tigers, totaling 116 catches for 1,499 yards and 13 touchdowns. He was even named second-team All-SEC in 2023 after posting 38 catches for 394 yards and six touchdowns. Fairweather went undrafted in 2025 before the Cowboys signed him as an undrafted free agent, and he had remained on the practice squad since late August.

"The Arizona Cardinals have signed TE Rivaldo Fairweather off the Cowboys' practice squad," ESPN's Todd Archer wrote on X.

Prescott and the Cowboys will face the Giants on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. ET.
