George Pickens and the Dallas Cowboys looked to move to 2-2-1 on Sunday, hitting the road to face Sauce Gardner and the New York Jets in Week 5 of the 2025 NFL season. Quarterback Dak Prescott was without his top pass-catcher, CeeDee Lamb, for a second straight game, leaving Pickens as the Cowboys' top receiving option.
Pickens went head to head with Gardner for most of the matchup and didn’t see many passes come his way. However, with four minutes, 33 seconds remaining in the third quarter, the former Pittsburgh Steelers wideout broke through, hauling in a 43-yard deep ball from Prescott for a touchdown to extend Dallas’ lead to 30-3. The Cowboys would go on to win 37-22.
Entering the matchup with the Jets, Pickens had four touchdown receptions, including two in the Week 4 tie against the Green Bay Packers. Now, through five games with Dallas, Pickens has five touchdown catches, the most by any player in franchise history through that span to start his Cowboys career. Dallas revealed the historic achievement on social media.
"Dak Prescott and George Pickens connected for a 43-yard touchdown," Dallas Cowboys PR wrote on X. "Pickens' five receiving touchdowns in 2025 are the most by a Cowboy through his first five games with the team."

Pickens' five receiving touchdowns in 2025 are the most by a Cowboy through his first five games with the team.
The Cowboys have a storied history at wide receiver, featuring Pro Bowlers such as Drew Pearson, Michael Irvin, Dez Bryant and Lamb. By comparison, Lamb had just two touchdown catches in his first five games with Dallas during the 2020 season.
Up next for Pickens and the Cowboys, a Week 6 matchup with the Carolina Panthers, a game Dallas hopes will see Lamb return from his ankle injury.
