Trevon Diggs watched on as DaRon Bland helped lead the Dallas Cowboys to their third win of the 2025 NFL season, improving to 3-3-1 with a 44-22 victory over Jayden Daniels and the Washington Commanders in Week 7. The Cowboys delivered arguably their best defensive performance of the year despite missing their All-Pro cornerback, recording four sacks and seven tackles for loss before Bland capped it off with a 68-yard pick-six.
Diggs had played in every game for the Cowboys prior to Week 7, recording 18 tackles with zero interceptions and zero passes defended. In fact, with the departure of All-Pro defensive end Micah Parsons, who was traded to the Green Bay Packers, Dallas has had the worst passing defense in the NFL, allowing 260.3 yards per game.
Despite practicing in full on Wednesday and Thursday, Diggs was unexpectedly ruled out for the Cowboys’ matchup against the Commanders after coach Brian Schottenheimer revealed he suffered a concussion in an accident at home.
"Trevon Diggs came in this morning with some concussion symptoms after having an accident at his home," Schottenheimer said on Friday. "He's been checked out by our doctors and is in the protocol and will miss the game."
On Monday, a day after Dallas defeated its NFC East rival, Diggs, still in concussion protocol, returned to the team facility for testing. However, according to Schottenheimer, team doctors did not clear him, and he was sent home.
"Yeah, he's still in protocoal," Schottenheimer said on Monday. "We did see him today, Jim (Maurer) and our doctors did see him today and they sent him home. So he's still in protocol."
