Dallas Cowboys head coach Brian Schottenheimer has made it clear that he intends to change the culture, and he's also clear on the level of discipline he wants his team to maintain.
With Schotty stating that if a player throws a punch, they will be out of practice, and true to his word, that has already happened, and then he made the entire roster and portions of the coaching staff run sideline to sideline for a handful of minutes.
Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb have praised Schottenheimer for not taking discipline lightly, and now here comes defensive tackle Mazi Smith on the matter.
“Coach want us to get better, fighting ain't really getting us nowhere, but tired maybe,” Smith said. “It's good that he had us line it up like we ain't did that and that's take it back [to youth football]. So, we need that sometime. He got to hold us accountable. He doing a great job."
The Cowboys and good discipline haven't gone in the same sentence, at least in the past two years with Dallas being in the top five for most penalized teams in football.
Under Schottenheimer, that's going to change...or he's trying to make it so.
Telling his team to play on the edge, but not cross the line, Schotty has made it clear if they do, it hurts the team and there will be consequences. The fact that every player is on board with what Schottenheimer is trying to do from a discipline standpoint shows they know how important it is.
Also, running sideline to sideline for minutes on end isn't exactly fun.
