Cowboys’ Micah Parsons Blunt Reaction to Contract Negotiations

FRISCO — The Dallas Cowboys have had over a year to plan out a contract extension for defensive star Micah Parsons. They took painstakingly long to complete deals for Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb last summer and it appears a similar situation could be at hand here.

A few weeks ago, Dallas was on the path for a much different situation. The Cowboys acted quickly to sign Osa Odighizuwa before free agency began and restructured the deals of Prescott and Lamb to open up more cap space.

After a disappointing offseason last year, the Cowboys had set themselves up to get things going on a Parsons extension while adding some other pieces along the way. Parsons himself clamored for such activity, posturing a potential pay cut if that meant the team traded for Myles Garrett.

Well, one of those two has gotten their pay day and the other still waits for his future to be secured at The Star.

Strangely, this saga does not seem to be taking a toll on Parsons just yet. When asked if he was disappointed in the situation by The Athletic's Jon Machota, Parsons bluntly said "No."

Parsons usually never shies away from sharing his feelings and was set to delve deeper before an interruption. But there is certainly some confusion and even frustration from outside the building as to why the Cowboys have not made their move on him yet.

To be clear, this is the same game the Cowboys have played before with last year's extensions proving no different. However, they have already cost themselves millions dragging their feet.

Maxx Crosby and Garrett have both gotten major pay days on the defensive side. As they signed their deals, the price for Parsons goes up.

From that perspective, Parsons should be in no rush has his value climbs higher with his colleagues' raises.

On the other hand, no player in Dallas has more staunchly defended and fought for the brand like he has. At a point, that must hold some value.

The wait for Parsons deal carries on and if recent years are any indication, the Cowboys will be well versed in their offseason programming before a deal gains any traction. By the end of it all though, fans should expect No. 11 inked to his franchise for the coming years.
