There has been speculation that Maxx Crosby might be traded this offseason. If the Las Vegas Raiders decide to move him, a plethora of teams will be interested in the defensive end. The Dallas Cowboys could wind up being his next team. Dallas has struggled mightily on defense this year and needs to land a game-changer like Crosby.

Due to a knee injury, the Raiders chose to shut down Crosby for the remainder of the season. Jay Glazer of Fox Sports and Ryan McFadden of ESPN both reported that the pass-rusher was unhappy after being informed his season was over.

There’s a possibility the Raiders are shutting down Crosby to improve their chances of landing the first overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft. Crosby was vocal about caring more about helping the Raiders win rather than about a first overall draft pick.

“Yeah, I don’t give a s*** about the pick, to be honest,” said Crosby via NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport. “I don’t play for that. That’s not my job. My job is to be the best defensive end in the world. That’s what I focus on every day. Being a great leader, being an influence. Being that guy on a consistent basis for my team.”

If Maxx Crosby demands a trade, don’t be surprised if he takes his talents to Dallas this offseason.

Looking Back at His Career

Maxx Crosby played his college football at Eastern Michigan. He was named first-team All-Mac in both 2017 and 2018.

The Oakland (now Las Vegas) Raiders selected Crosby in the fourth round of the 2019 NFL Draft. He has put together a superb career, making five Pro Bowls and being named a Second-Team All-Pro twice.

Crosby had a career-high 14.5 sacks in 2023. During his 17-year career, he has recorded 69.5 sacks, 439 combined tackles, and 264 quarterback hits.

Why the Cowboys Need Crosby

This has been an extremely disappointing year for the Cowboys. The team owns a 7-8 record and have been eliminated from playoff contention. Led by quarterback Dak Prescott, the wide receiver duo of CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens, as well as running back Javonte Williams, Dallas is great on offense. However, the team’s struggling defense is perhaps the main reason for their forgettable season.

With that said, Maxx Crosby would be an excellent addition. He would undoubtedly help Dallas’ pass rush.

Thanks in part to the Micah Parsons trade with the Green Bay Packers, the Cowboys possess two first-round picks in the 2026 draft. Holding two first-round picks would certainly help the team land Crosby this offseason.

If Crosby demands a trade, there’s a chance he’d want to go to the Cowboys. He attended Colleyville Heritage High School, which is just outside of Dallas. It would be sort of a homecoming for him.

It would be wise for the Cowboys to acquire Crosby as he could replace Parsons as an elite-pass rusher.
