Cowboys Offer Good News Injury Update On Tyler Guyton
Tim Heitman-USA TODAY Sports

Dallas Cowboys left tackle Tyler Guyton was having himself a good training camp in Oxnard until the football gods intervened and a bone fracture sidelined him for four to six weeks.

Considering the initial thought was an ACL injury, the Cowboys dodged a huge bullet, and Guyton has a chance to play Week 1 against the Philadelphia Eagles if everything goes well in his rehab.

So, how is Guyton coming along?

“He's doing good,” head coach Brian Schottenheimer said. “He's getting some reps, just the mock stuff, the slow speed stuff because he needs that mentally to stay prepared. But he's doing well. Again, not putting a timeline on it, but I've been very pleased with what I've seen from him. The intensity that he's attacking the rehab and the way he's working is not normal for a second-year player. So, I'm very proud of him for that.”

In Guyton's absence, it has been Nate Thomas getting the reps at left tackle in practice, but what is surprising is that he only got a handful of snaps in the 31-21 preseason loss to the Los Angeles Rams.

We imagine that will change against the Baltimore Ravens at AT&T Stadium this week.

With Guyton progressing well, there is real potential for him to suit up against the Eagles, but make no mistake, Dallas will be cautious with Tyler, so a Week 2 return could be a more realistic timeline.

Still, no setbacks and Guyton is now doing walkthroughs, which is a positive for a Cowboys offensive line that desperately needs him back on the field.
