Cowboys Pickens Trade Receives Intense Scouting Report from NFL MVP

The Dallas Cowboys made a blockbuster trade this offseason - and to some, a controversial one - when they traded away a 2026 third-round pick in exchange for star wide receiver George Pickens.

The former Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver gives Dallas two elite playmakers at the wideout position as he joins CeeDee Lamb, who is among the league’s best at the position. Pickens will also bring to the table a something that, according to 2015 NFL MVP Cam Newton, the Cowboys desperately needed.

“He adds an edge the Cowboys have been missing. Jerry’s built winning teams with players like him before,” Newton said.

Which players could Newton be referencing?

A recent name that comes to mind at the wide receiver position is Dez Bryant. Similar to Bryant, Pickens is a fiery competitor on the field that just wants to win above all else.

But this tradition around here goes back to guys like Michael Irvin as well.

Will Pickens get the occasional unsportsmanlike conduct penalty?

Sure, but the plan here is that quarterback Dak Prescott is the type of leader on the football field who can make his guys buy into a team-first mentality.

And new coach Brian Schottenheimer is saying that his personal interactions with Pickens have been nothing short of "incredible.''

Newton also mentioned that Pickens isn’t the typical “red-flag” player. According to Newton, Pickens will not be a problem off the field despite concerns of his maturity coming from the Pittsburgh Steelers organization.

Pickens will in theory take the Dallas offense to new heights and complete what could be one of the league’s most explosive units throughout the season. He vows to work every day - he swears he's "chill'' and not a "tornado'' - and to continue building a winning culture with the Cowboys.

With his championship mindset and selfless mentality, Pickens might just be poised to become the superstar Cowboys Nation hopes he can be.
