The Dallas Cowboys will be without a notable part of their offense for at least the next four games.

The Cowboys on Saturday placed wide receiver Brandin Cooks on injured reserve. Cooks is dealing with an infection in his right knee that developed after what was meant to be a routine procedure.

Cooks will be sidelined through at least Week 9 as a result of the injury.

Cooks was supposed to fulfill the role of No. 2 wide receiver in the Dallas offense, but his numbers have been somewhat limited by the team’s somewhat uneven offense. Jalen Tolbert has significantly outperformed Cooks despite a similar target share, and figures to solidify his role as long as Cooks remains sidelined.

The Cowboys are set to travel to Pittsburgh to face the Steelers on Sunday night and will be quite short-handed for the game.
