Cowboys Predicted To Vault Into Top-10 Offense With Pickens Move

Isn't it funny how one trade can tilt the whole outlook for a football team?

The George Pickens trade for the Dallas Cowboys was seen as the final piece of the offensive puzzle for Brian Schottenheimer, with CeeDee Lamb now getting the help he so desperately needed.

But let's not forget that prior to the trade, not much was said about the Cowboys' offense being one of the better units in football.

Does one move change that?

For NFL.com's Bucky Brooks, it does, with the Cowboys now coming in at No. 8 in his top pass-catching duos in football.

"The blockbuster trade that brought George Pickens from Pittsburgh to Dallas has thrust the Cowboys into the conversation as one of the most dangerous pass-catching groups heading into 2025, Brooks writes. "Moreover, Pickens' arrival will likely force opponents to utilize more two-deep coverages, leading to increased opportunities for TE Jake Ferguson to make plays between the hashes."

There wasn't much positive talk about Jake Ferguson, who was coming off a down year, now, all of a sudden, with Pickens arriving, there is positivity about what the "big biscuit" can do?

Funny how that works.

The arrival of Pickens has seen the Cowboys' offense, led by Dak Prescott, go from a so-so unit to potentially a top offense in football. ... we say top-10.

We know what Pickens can do on the field, and now defenses can't shift coverage to Lamb to take him away. Otherwise, defenders will be eaten alive by Pickens one-on-one.

Conversely, it's the same for Lamb. If Pickens is doubled, CeeDee gets single coverage—that's nightmare fuel for a defensive back.

One move has tipped the scales in Dallas' favor, and it's a move that many have been screaming at the franchise to make for months.

Now that it's done, the whole picture of the Cowboys' offense changes.

Fancy that.
