Cowboys QB Dak Prescott limited in practice with discomfort caused by cleats

One couldn't blame fans of the Dallas Cowboys for feeling a little nervous upon learning on Thursday that star quarterback Dak Prescott was limited for the most recent practice session due to discomfort in the same right ankle that he fractured and dislocated in October 2020. 

It appears Prescott should be just fine for the regular-season opener versus the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at AT&T Stadium this Sunday evening. 

Per Pro Football Talk's Josh Alper and Mike Fisher of FanNation's Cowboys Country, Prescott merely encountered an annoying issue related to a recent change of cleats. 

"I feel great. I still feel the best that I’ve felt in a very, very long time. . . . I’m good to go. I promise you," the 29-year-old reportedly said. 

"It is the (right) ankle," Prescott admitted during his comments. Fisher added that Prescott said he is going back to his old Jordan 1s and expects to be 100% for Sunday's clash. 

Prescott originally went down with the gruesome injury playing against the division-rival New York Giants on Oct. 11, 2020, but made quite a triumphant return to meaningful action for the Week 1 game against none other than the Buccaneers last September. He completed 42-of-58 passes for 403 yards with three touchdowns and one interception in what became a thrilling 31-29 defeat.
