After an offseason of work, Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott is feeling good about the ways in which he cleaned up his game since last season. At a youth football camp earlier this month, the veteran insisted that his 15 regular-season interceptions were blown out of proportion.
Prescott also assured that he won’t surpass even 10 interceptions in 2023.
“I know who I am, and you can go back and take away half of those off drops,” Prescott said, via Gabriel Trevino of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. “I’m not saying it’s on the receiver, but if you cut that in half then we start talking about those, nobody is talking about it. . . . Some of it is the offense and them understanding exactly where we are.
“Mike (McCarthy) does an amazing job with those guys. They know where to be, why to be, when they’re getting looked at. That’s going to be a big jump. I won’t have 10 interceptions this year.”
The former fourth-round pick has had three seasons with fewer than 10 interceptions and four seasons with 10 or more.
Cowboys training camp is just a week away but Prescott isn’t waiting to sharpen up the offense. He flew out to Atlanta to train with all the top receivers on the team this weekend.

Breaking down all of Dak Prescott’s 2022 INTs
After breaking down each one of Dak Prescott‘s 2022 interceptions, former NFL head coach Mike Martz thinks the Dallas Cowboys quarterback will have dramatic improvement next season. Martz believes the improvement will come from Mike McCarthy taking over his own offense and increasing discipline.
The former Rams coach’s posted a video on The33rdTeam, during which he evaluates what went wrong and the quarterback’s decision-making on the 17 plays that resulted in interceptions in 2022.
As Martz’s breakdown shows, many of the Cowboys’ interceptions were not necessarily Dak Prescott’s fault. Sometimes, his receiver’s lack of separation had the QB throwing in windows that proved much too tight. That’s one area Dallas is hoping to improve in 2023. By acquiring Brandin Cooks in a trade from the Texans, the Cowboys are already making headway there.

Nearing his 30th birthday, Prescott is feeling an increased urgency to win with the Cowboys.
“One thousand percent,” Prescott told reporters. “Just understanding injuries and what I’ve been throughout my career and understanding that you don’t have forever to play this game. I’m blessed for every moment that I get. Just trying to take it with a sense of urgency.”
