The Dallas Cowboys bounced back after a disappointing performance in the season opener, taking down the Washington Commanders in an NFC East showdown.
However, even after the win, Christian Parker's new-look defense hasn't lived up to the hype.
That's also the case with Quinnen Williams, who called out the defense after Week 1 but looked sluggish and slow in his second game of the season.
As it turns out, the former New York Jets star might not be fully healthy right now.
“I was just kinda a little banged up ... Yeah, got a little banged up,” Williams told the media postgame.
While no one knows his body better than Williams, it looks like his boss would beg to differ.
In his weekly appearance on 105.3 The Fan, team owner/general manager Jerry Jones seemed to contradict Williams' confession, stating that he's fully healthy and there shouldn't be anything to be worried about:
“No, no, he’s not [dealing with anything],” the business mogul said.
Moreover, Jones remains confident in the defensive line and believes they will turn things around in no time after a slow start to the campaign.
“Both (Kenny Clark and Williams) are outstanding,” Jones said. “Williams is just one of the best players in the entire league. Period.”
Perhaps Jones doesn't want to give the Baltimore Ravens anything to work with ahead of their Week 3 matchup, or maybe this is just Jerry Jones being Jerry Jones.
Whatever the case, Williams is the main pillar of this defense, so this will be a situation to keep a close eye on.
