Cowboys React As Rookie Crashes Into Coach at Minicamp

FRISCO — Following the NFL Draft, Dallas Cowboys' fans are gushing with excitement for this year's rookie class. They ultimately did not get the No. 2 receiver they wanted though the team has attempted to make up for it in the aggregate.

New right guard Tyler Booker headlines this group with the boisterous Alabama product readying himself to become the next great Cowboys' lineman. Donovan Ezeiruaku and Shavon Revel Jr. followed Booker on the draft board, adding to the Dallas' defense.

Even some of the Day 3 selections are getting shine around The Star. Saturday, one of those players started to make a name for himself.

Several reports out of Cowboys' rookie minicamp indicated Shemar James' energy out of the gate. As Patrik Walker of the team's website indicated, Thomas made an impactful visual impression.

When the players and others around the team describe the energy that new head coach Brian Schottenheimer bring to the team, this is what one would imagine.

Energy and intensity will be the building blocks to the Schotty era. Through a limited sample size, James would seem a perfect fit in Dallas.

One weekend, however, will not prove his worth on a defense loaded with individual talent and depth at the linebacker position. While DeMarvion Overshown recovers from injury, the Cowboys signed two experienced linebackers in Jack Sanborn and Kenneth Murray Jr.

Damone Clark and Marist Liufau return from last year's team and have more of a reputation in this locker room.

But with moments like these, James is showing and doing all the right things to raise his profile through the coming months on the road to training camp.
