The Dallas Cowboys made a big addition to their wide receiver room on Tuesday, then shed some light on a cryptic message from their top pass-catcher.
CeeDee Lamb had taken to X earlier this week to share an image of a Simpsons character waving "hello." Some fans took the post as a reference to the growing rumors that the team was seeking a trade for Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver George Pickens.
The Cowboys and Steelers finalized that trade early on Wednesday, with the Cowboys landing the receiver for a third-round pick and a swap of fifth- and sixth-round picks. News of the Pickens trade seemed to confirm speculation that Lamb was waving hello to a new teammate, and the Cowboys connected the dots in the hours after the trade was announced.
The team took to X to share a picture of Lamb and Pickens hugging after a game, along with an image of Lamb's original post and three emoji of waving hands.

The Cowboys had dropped other hints that they would be making a big wide receiver move. The team's COO and co-owner, Stephen Jones, said at league meetings in March that the team was looking to add more talent at the position.
"We're still open to looking at a really explosive number two that could upgrade us," Jones said, via the team's official website. "But as I said, I like our room and certainly like the players we currently have."
