Cowboys receive good news after injury scare in final Oxnard practice
Jason Parkhurst-USA TODAY Sports

Right on the final day of padded practice in Oxnard, California, the Dallas Cowboys suffered an injury scare on Wednesday when first-round rookie and starting left tackle Tyler Guyton was taken to the locker room to be evaluated.

Per Patrik Walker from DallasCowboys.com, Guyton "looked fine" and he didn't see where an injury might've occurred.

Naturally, the idea of Guyton being taken off the field alone was enough to send Cowboys Nation into a frenzy. After all, the team is clearly betting on him to be Dak Prescott's blindside bodyguard in 2024 and the kid has been looking great in training camp and in two preseason games so far.

After practice, Walker reported Guyton took himself off of the practice field due to knee soreness. Walker added he was told "it's not a big deal.

Big expectations and growing pains await Tyler Guyton in 2024

When it comes to finding offensive lineman in the NFL Draft, the Cowboys' batting average is as iconic as when Ted Williams' batted .406 in 1941.

Guyton is no different. While it was widely accepted that the Oklahoma product's upside was sky-high, everyone and their mother expected it to take more time. Now, he looks comfortable enough to go up against the likes of Jared Verse, Micah Parsons, Maxx Crosby, and others and come out on top.

Now granted, he's a rookie that still shows some inconsistencies in his technique, particularly his hand usage. Growing pains should be expected when he goes up against NFL starters every week, starting with Defensive Player of the Year Myles Garrett in Week 1.

But Guyton is clearly one of the biggest X-factors of the 2024 Cowboys season. That's why fans should be excited to hear it was nothing but a scare in Oxnard.
