Cowboys sack Vikings' seven-game win streak in blowout

The Cowboys sacked the Vikings, literally.

Dallas had a season-high seven sacks in a 40-3 road victory against Minnesota. Per the Associated Press, it's the largest road win in Cowboys' history and the fifth-worst home loss in Vikings' history.

Dallas shut down an explosive offense. Minnesota averaged 355.7 yards in their first nine games. They had 183 yards in Sunday's loss, a season-low.

The stellar performance reaffirms the Cowboys' defensive reputation after allowing 415 yards in a 31-28 heartbreaker against the Packers last Sunday. Thanks to the dominant performance, Dallas holds a solid lead for total sacks in the league. It's registered 42 in 10 games.

The offense replicated the defensive exploits as well. They scored points on their first seven drives and didn't punt until their eighth possession.

One key reason Dallas' offense dominated was running back Tony Pollard. Pollard scored two touchdowns and generated 189 yards of total offense.

Dallas needs this complimentary football for the rest of the season. It improves their playoff aspirations and helps them match the best teams in the NFL.

Minnesota (8-2) has one of the league's best records. They were riding a seven-game win streak before they faced Dallas (7-3).

"If we can continue to do this, this team can be special," Dak Prescott told CBS Sports' Tracy Wolfson after the win.

"We knew we needed to respond after last week ... If we can continue to do this, this team can be special."
